The Guam Economic Development Authority is at the ASD Market Week trade show in Las Vegas to provide a platform for Guam-based companies to connect with potential buyers and distributors from across the United States as well as international markets.
“The success of our local small businesses is vital to the economic growth of our island,” said Gov. Lou Leon Guerrero in a news release about the event. “I am proud that our CHamoru culture and heritage are being shared with the rest of the world through the many unique island-inspired products being showcased at ASD Market Week.”
Held twice a year in Las Vegas, the ASD Market Week is the most comprehensive trade show for consumer merchandise in the United States.
The trade show brings more than 40,000 attendees, including buyers and vendors from over 90 countries.
GEDA is supporting the participation of four local companies – The Coconut Tree Company, Local Jerk Guam, LLC, Guam LEAF, and Natural Being – as part of the Guam State Trade Expansion Program, which is funded by the U.S. Small Business Administration.
The Coconut Tree Company offers a modern twist on a classic CHamoru recipe — gourmet coconut candy with various signature flavors cooked, shaped, and packaged by hand.
Natural Being provides hand-manufactured, essential oil-based hand sanitizers and mosquito repellents that work in harmony with the environment.
Local Jerk Guam, LLC provides traditional CHamoru dinanche’ hot pastes, beef jerky and jams in multiple local island flavors and with peppers grown on their family farm.
Guam LEAF uses local fallen palm fronds or leaves to create sustainable, reusable, and biodegradable tableware.
“GEDA is thrilled to highlight four local companies at this year’s ASD Market Week as part of our Guam STEP program,” said GEDA CEO/Administrator Melanie Mendiola. “The event provides invaluable exposure for our companies to expand their customer base and build relationships with buyers and distributors from international markets.”
